The wishbone is the part of the turkey (and in some cultures, chicken) that is saved and snapped as a supertitious good luck custom. This bone is taken out from the bird when dinner is prepared and left to dry a bit, and later on, two persons take each side of the wishbone and snap it. However gets the longer part of the bone gets to have his or her wish fulfilled, according to this supertitious belief.

The wishbone, or furcula, of a turkey is saved and snapped as part of a superstitious good luck custom. Two people hold each end of the dried bone, and the one with the larger piece after it breaks is believed to have their wish granted. This tradition is particularly popular during Thanksgiving dinners in the U.S.
