Why did Africans, rather than Native Americans, become slaves in America?

If you think about it, Native Americans knew the land. I believe at first the European settlers in the New World tried to enslave them but to no avail. As for Africans being slaves it was perfect for the settlers because the blacks didn't know the land and they were easy to manipulate because the blacks most likely did not have an education. Hopefully that helps.

they were accustomed to the warm weather and working very hard. also the native americans were not as strong and died of a lot of sicknesses that the europeans brought over

Africans became enslaved in America over Native Americans primarily due to European exploitation needs, resistance from Native Americans, and profitability of the African slave trade. Initial enslavement attempts of Native Americans were largely ineffective as they were familiar with the terrain and suffered high disease mortality rates.
