Why did the Algonquians usually build camps near waterways?

Since there were bobcats at the time, and traveling through the woods was hard, water was their transportation. This is why they built canoes to move on rivers and other waterways. Water was also a source of food and items for trade, such as seashells for trading. Water was prosperity. Hope this helped!

The Algonquians built camps near waterways mainly for access to fresh water, food sources, and transportation. This strategic location provided not only sustenance but also safety and opportunities for trade. The ecological richness of these areas supported their way of life effectively.
