"Talen shows like the X Factor provide cheap television, gossip, and nothing of any value. There are better programmes than these."

What does anyone have to say in reply to that statement? Please provide views from both sides of the argument.

For - TV shows such as x factor employ anybody without getting to fully know them - this means anybody can audition and so, its just a waste of time watching non entertaining people making a foolery of themselves. Against - These programmes make a fortune, they attract a lot of viewers. Everybody knows the x factor.
