The Ten Commandments and the Code of Hammurabi are two ancient systems of laws that seek to create a legal or demonstrative system of law and justice in regards to behavior that was permissible and impermissible. The Code of Hammurabi was much longer and more specific in doling out punishments specifically. The Ten Commandments were shorter and rather than listing punishments instead gave ten commandments or laws that were activities that god did not wish for man to engage in.

The Ten Commandments are a religious document, while the Code of Hammurabi is not. (apex)

The Ten Commandments are religious moral directives given by God, while the Code of Hammurabi is a secular legal code established by King Hammurabi. Both aim to govern behavior, but the Ten Commandments focus on moral principles for individuals whereas the Code provides specific laws for societal order and justice. Their origins, content, and historical impact demonstrate their different roles in shaping ethical and legal frameworks.
