Ok, so I know there are several ways to solve this but the way I did it is $1.30 is the price of a rose but each rose is 50 cents so now it's .80 cents so you divide $60.00 by .80 cents which is 75. They must sell 75 roses to break even. If they only sold 50, it would be a -$20 profit Assuming that they don't have to buy more supplies, for every 25 roses that they sell after breaking even, it would be a $20 profit(25÷.80cents=$20) So selling 100 roses is a +$20 profit(75 to break even and an extra 25 roses sold at a profit) So selling 200 roses is a $100 profit( 75 to break even and 125 roses sold at a profit)

The students need to calculate the required number of roses to sell in order to break even with their costs and determine the profit they would make if they sold different quantities of roses.
To break even, we first calculate their total fixed costs, which are $60 for ribbons, paper, and advertising. Then, we find the profit per rose by subtracting the cost price of $0.50 from the selling price of $1.30, resulting in $0.80 profit per rose. To break even, we divide the fixed costs by the profit per rose: $60 / $0.80 = 75 roses.
To find the profit for selling 50, 100, and 200 roses, we multiply the number of roses by the profit per rose ($0.80) and subtract the fixed costs: For 50 roses: (50 x $0.80) - $60 = $40 - $60 = -$20 (loss). For 100 roses: (100 x $0.80) - $60 = $80 - $60 = $20 profit. For 200 roses: (200 x $0.80) - $60 = $160 - $60 = $100 profit.

The students at Hammond Middle School must sell 75 roses to break even. If they sell 50 roses, they will incur a loss of $20. If they sell 100 and 200 roses, they will make a profit of $20 and $100, respectively.
